When opening a business in a new area you need to let your neighbours know you have arrived. Selling houses is one thing, selling an estate agent to the public is quite another.
Ellisons are a long-established, independent estate agent with four offices covering the Wimbledon area. TA2 have been marketing them successfully for a number of years. Ellisons saw an emerging market in Colliers Wood and a new office was planned and instigated. Competition was already fierce, so how to maximise the arrival of a new kid on this block?
The proposed office was strategically placed close to the tube station, with huge footfall and on a busy arterial road. TA2 proposed a dramatic opening event using the large window space as a massive advertising hoarding. A huge vinyl mural was produced featuring a giant ‘opening ribbon’ and a series of intriguing teaser messages pre-empting the opening date. Door drop invitations to the opening were delivered to local residents and the Mayor and journalists invited to cut the ribbon and report the event respectively. Social media teasers reinforced the message and the result – a memorable and newsworthy event to place the new office firmly on the map.
The number of visitors to Ellisons’ website increased dramatically, as did enquiries to all offices prior to the opening. Making the most of a marketing opportunity is essential, particularly in a competitive marketplace.
